AutoZone Skybridge

AutoZone Inc.’s new pedestrian skybridge provides a modern, secure, and climate-controlled connection for employees in downtown Memphis. Designed by the architectural firm LRK and constructed by Flintco, LLC, the skybridge links AutoZone’s corporate offices to the Memphis Downtown Mobility Center. The structure’s design seamlessly mirrors the contemporary aesthetic of the Mobility Center, featuring clean lines, matching metal finishes, and an advanced glazing system installed by the expert contract team at Binswanger Glass.

Sleek, Modern Aesthetic: The skybridge utilizes a YKK AP YCW 750 Structural Silicone Glazed (SSG) curtain wall system. This design creates a smooth, uninterrupted glass surface that enhances the bridge’s modern look while providing structural integrity.

High-Performance Solar Control: The glazing features Vitro Architectural Glass’s Solarban® 90, a high-performance solar control, low-e glass. Fabricated by Wholesale Glass, this product offers exceptional solar control to minimize heat gain and glare, ensuring a comfortable interior environment year-round while allowing for clear, expansive views of the surrounding cityscape.

Customized Privacy and Design: To add a unique visual element and enhance privacy, the glass was treated with a 3M Dot Matrix Gradient Film. This decorative film provides a subtle transition from transparent to opaque, adding a layer of sophisticated design to the structure’s overall appearance. Binswanger Glass’s precise installation ensured this complex, multi-component system achieved both the architect’s design intent and the owner’s performance requirements.
