The Durham Health Services Complex wraps the entire city block and creates an incredible, fully landscaped courtyard, providing access to the County Wide Meeting Hall while adding much-needed green space and a place of respite in downtown Durham, North Carolina.
Installed by Binswanger Glass of Charlotte, sunshades and light shelves are used throughout the Durham Health Services Complex; allowing natural daylight to penetrate through the building while providing shade near the windows reducing solar heat gain and window glare.
In contrast to their former offices with few windows and fewer views, workers at the Durham Health Services Complex now enjoy access to natural light and views of the outdoors. Office spaces are arranged around large “light wells” that bring luminance into the work environment.
