Hays High School is a modern educational facility serving USD 489 in Hays, Kansas, designed to inspire student achievement and community connection. The campus features flexible academic spaces, abundant natural light, and energy-conscious building systems. Binswanger Glass was entrusted with delivering a complete glazing package tailored to the school’s functional and aesthetic vision.

Key Features & Glazing Details

• Curtain Wall & Storefront Systems: The school’s bright, open interiors are anchored by Tubelite 400CW 2 ½” x 7 ½” curtain wall and T14000 2” x 4 ½” center set storefront systems. These solutions provide durability, security, and expansive daylighting throughout classrooms, commons, and circulation zones.
• Precision Entrances & Doors: Tubelite Wide Stile entrance doors welcome students and faculty with resilient, high-traffic-ready performance. Interior classrooms boast Kawneer 1010C Mall Sliders for adaptable learning spaces, while the lunch room features the NanaWall NW Acoustical 645 Folding System for seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor activities.
• High-Performance Glazing: Exterior glass specified as Guardian SNX 62/27 and SNX 51/23 is fabricated by INSULITE GLASS for exceptional solar control and clarity. Custom-crafted CRL sliding display cases and Binswanger-designed swing doors (with CRL parts) enhance functionality across key gathering areas.
• Specialized Interior & Safety Solutions: Theater spaces utilize acoustical windows from St Cloud for a focused performing arts environment. Safety meets aesthetics with CRL base shoe glass handrails featuring Starphire laminated glass.
• Quality Craftsmanship & Collaboration: The project was supported by brake metal from RM Custom Metals, shop drawings by Alan Rhodes Drafting, and structural engineering by Rice Engineering. Additional detailing includes SF door hardware by Knowles, architectural hardware by FHC, caulking by DOWSIL 795 (SSI supplied), and window film by Eclipse Systems. Display cases integrate CRL sliding systems and Binswanger custom swing doors.
